The “Disneyland for food” is coming to Miami Beach. Smorgasburg, the open-air food market from New York that opened an outpost in Wynwood in 2022, is opening on Lincoln Road. In a partnership with the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District, the outdoor market will sell products from more than 20 vendors, including churros from Santo Dulce, dumplings from Mao Bao and melted French cheese on toasted bread from Raclette Street. The new Smorgasburg will be a bit smaller than the Wynwood Smorgasburg, which features around 60 vendors and is open two days week. The Miami Beach Smorgasburg is also temporary: It will be open only on Friday evenings through the end of May. Lenox Avenue will be closed during the event so guests can wander from vendor to vendor, eating everything in their path.

Owner Gaston Becherano told the Herald last year that Smorgasburg is a good way for vendors to test their menus and build customer interest.
Pedro Portal pportal@miamiherald.com “If you want to open a restaurant, step A to step B, from having the concept to becoming an owner, is quite risky,” he said. “You need money. Smorgasburg is in the middle. You can grow your audience and develop a following. It’s a great opportunity for exposure and catering opportunities.”
The original Smorgasburg opened in Brooklyn (Williamsburg, of course) and grew to include pop-ups in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Japan. There are now versions in lower Manhattan, Jersey City and Los Angeles.
