The sandwiches that draw block-long lines in Florence—and have been dubbed the “World’s Best” by Saveur—are finally landing on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach. All’Antico Vinaio, the legendary Italian sandwich shop from Florence, known for its crackly Tuscan schiacciata bread and overstuffed creations, will open its first Florida location at 647 Lincoln Rd. in South Beach in 2025.

Founded in 1991 by the Mazzanti family, All’Antico Vinaio has earned a near-mythical reputation among locals, tourists, and food lovers around the world. In recent years, it’s gone viral, with foodies from New York to Dubai obsessing over its overflowing sandwiches and signature golden bread.

Now, the same fresh-baked bread, imported prosciutto, creamy pecorino, and truffle-spiked spreads that built a cult following in Florence (and later New York, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Dubai) are heading straight for South Beach.

How the Sandwiches Went Viral in Florence — and Then in The States

The original Florence locations started as casual stops for workers seeking an early morning snack or an afternoon “merenda” — the Italian tradition of a small meal between main meals — and later evolved into a street food pilgrimage site.

“All’Antico Vinaio” loosely translates to “at the old wine merchant,” a nod to the shop’s roots in the Tuscan tradition of pairing rustic sandwiches with a glass of local vino. Even today, long lines stretch down narrow Italian streets, packed with locals, students, and tourists craving an authentic taste of Florence.
