Wind Chime Specialist Installs 333 Tubular Chimes, Arranged to Offer Four Distinct Musical Experiences Along Six Blocks of Lincoln Road
MIAMI BEACH, FL (May 8, 2024) – Lincoln Road, the iconic outdoor shopping, dining and cultural destination situated in the heart of Miami Beach, introduces the Chime Gardens, where nature’s melodies will harmonize the pedestrian experience along six blocks, offering a unique symphony of sound and tranquility while locals and visitors shop and dine. In partnership with wind chime expert Erica des Roches, the collaboration is meant to reinvigorate and reconceptualize Lincoln Road’s ambiance with a soothing soundscape in public areas.
The Chime Gardens span the length of Lincoln Road starting at the 400 block and soothing pedestrians with nature’s musical accompaniment through to the 1000 block. Creating a sensorial journey, the Chime Gardens introduce a series of percussion instruments constructed from suspended tools that strike one another as the wind blows. Made of various forms and materials, these carefully curated spaces are designed not only to delight the senses but also to evoke a profound sense of peace, serenity and connection with the natural world while exploring all that Lincoln Road has to offer.
“Lincoln Road has been the heartbeat of Miami Beach for decades, offering a robust calendar of dynamically engaging musical experiences,” said Lyle Stern, president of Lincoln Road Business Improvement District. “Lincoln Road continues to create memorable moments to welcome more than 8 million people each year as they explore the neighborhood. Amidst the rapid pace most of us live in today, Chime Gardens will provide locals and visitors a moment to connect with nature and the essence of Lincoln Road’s beautiful surroundings.”
The Chime Gardens Include:
- Harmony Garden (400 block): Harmony Garden presents a range of tones, creating a multi-layered auditory experience. Akin to a choir of instruments playing in harmony, this garden symbolizes unity in diversity. Despite their differences in tone, size, and location, the chimes come together to create a cohesive and harmonious whole.
- Latin Garden (690 block): The sounds of wind chimes in the Latin Garden infuse the atmosphere with the vibrant rhythms, joyful energy, and cultural richness of Latin America.
- Paradise Garden Block (800 and 900 blocks): In the Paradise Garden, the sounds of wind chimes evoke a sense of serenity, harmony, and natural beauty. These gentle sounds promote relaxation, mindfulness, and a sense of inner peace.
- Celestial Garden (1000 block): The arrangement of the chimes in the Celestial Garden mimics the celestial harmony of the stars and planets as if each chime represents a different celestial body contributing to the cosmic music of the universe.
